After years of neglect, local organizations are partnering to clean up the lower part of the Los Angeles River.

2023 Back-To- School Celebration

CCLB helped families gear up for the new school year with our annual celebration! School-age kids and young adults received backpacks, school supplies, yummy treats, NEW NIKES and other cool things. Everyone was so happy and ready to slay 23-24!

CCLB and the Catalina Island Conservancy

CCLB's Corpsmembers spent a week working on the Trans Catalina Trail with the Catalina Island Conservancy. They worked to clear the hiking trails and make it easier for hikers to enjoy the beauty of the island. Nothing beats a day out in nature for a great cause.

CCLB Corpsmembers Enhance Campus Coolness

In collaboration with Long Beach Unified School District and Ground Education, our Corpsmembers are constructing six new elementary school gardens - just in time for school to start again! By constructing new school-based gardens, we’re exposing over 3,500 students to outdoor education, helping create cooler campuses, enhancing green spaces, fostering climate resiliency, and promoting student well-being.

Spectrum’s Contribution to CCLB

Our newest partner, Charter Communications, is not only financially supporting our mission, but is also investing in our infrastructure. We’re excited to have new equipment, computers, chairs, tables and everything we need to renovate our headquarters building.

Recycling Trees in an Urban Lumber Yard

CCLB trains young people for conservation jobs by recycling dead trees and replacing them with new ones, salvaging valuable lumber in the process.

Wrigley Greenbelt Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

The City’s Department of public works and CCLB celebrated the grand opening of the Wrigley Greenbelt on Friday, May 19, 2023. Improvements to the area include a one-mile hiking trail, new picnic tables and benches, new landscaping and a new irrigation system.

Deforest Grand Opening

Last week, CCLB had the honor to work alongside key supporters and champions to officially open the DeForest Park Environmental Education Center - a new satellite location for Corpsmember training and community use.

2023 MLK Day Tree Planting

CCLB recognized the importance of doing good on MLK Day 2023. Corpsmembers planted dozens of trees at Bixby Knolls Park to help make the connection between community involvement and growth.

2023 Earth Day Event At Deforest

CCLB and partners recognized Earth Day through many work projects. One in particular was with the DeForest Park community. Together with Campfire, Corpsmembers and the community members planted trees and removed litter from the wetlands.

Sweetfin Grand Opening

Congratulations to @sweetfin on their grand opening! We applaud their generosity in donating 30% of all in-store food sales today to CCLB. Beautifying Deforest Park

CRC sets a high standard for environmental stewardship in our operations. To extend our stewardship into our local communities, CRC recently partnered with the Conservation Corps of Long Beach to beautify DeForest Park and Wetlands in North Long Beach. CRC employees volunteered to clean up the space for local residents to enjoy. CRC is a proud sponsor of the Conservation Corps of Long Beach’s environmental and workforce development programs.

CCLB Holiday Event 2023

December brings so many things including celebrating our Corpsmembers! Last week they were treated to an afternoon of food, fun, and holiday festivities. Everyone took home a gift and had the chance to be recognized for a year of hard work and commitment to the Corps philosophy and work done.
