Scholarship Opportunities

CCLB Scholarships

  • All current and former CCLB Corpsmembers who left the Corps in good standing are eligible to apply. In addition, previous graduates of the CCLB Gateway Cities Charter school and from The Education Corps may apply. This includes currently enrolled students who have less than 30 credits remaining towards their diploma.

    Previous scholarship recipients that can provide documentation that demonstrates they successfully used their scholarships may also apply. Documentation could include college transcripts or certificates of completion.

  • Scholarship funds can be used for a range of costs, including the following:

    • Repayment of Qualified Student Loans (Including defaulted loans)

    • Current or unpaid tuition, registration, or educational fees at qualified schools

    • Childcare fees for parents enrolled at a school

    • School books, materials, and supplies

    • Room and board at a school facility

    • Tools required for a training program

    • Union or apprenticeship dues

    • Uniforms or specialized clothing

    Awards for the following expenses are also available. Please note that the following expenses require additional approval from CCLB.

    • Laptop or Desktop Computers, Printers, Scanners, or other Hardware

    • Software/Programs and Upgrades

    • IT Services / Repairs to Computer Devices

    These items are approved on a case by case basis. The following factors are taken into consideration when awarding funds for these items: enrollment status, number of courses completed with passing grades, number of credits completed to date.

    Additionally, funds for computer devices are only awarded to students that have completed at least one semester of higher education with passing grades. Awardees will be asked for documentation.

  • Scholarship funds can be used in the following types of programs:

    • Community Colleges

    • Career and Technical Schools

    • 4-Year Universities

    • Trade School Programs

    • Degree and non-Degree Certificate Programs

    • Training Programs

  • CCLB scholarships are awarded once a year generally in early June. The application window opens in the spring. To check this year’s due date, please contact the Corpsmember Development Department. You can use the form at the bottom of this page to reach out.

  • CCLB Scholarships are made possible through the support of our generous donors.

    The application will require an essay. Individuals may also be asked to provide a copy of their previous transcripts or report cards.

  • Scholarships are awarded based on availability. Second year awards are given only when a individual is making progress towards their goals.

    In general, applications are evaluated on the following:

    • Quality of the application and essay responses

    • Demonstrated academic improvement while at CCLB

    • Financial Need

  • Awards are based on individual needs. The scholarship committee thoroughly reviews each application and makes award recommendations based on reasonable requests for assistance.

Americorps Awards

 
  • All current CCLB Corpsmembers are eligible to apply for Americorps scholarships. Before applying, Corpsmembers must have worked at the Corps for 30 days and either have a high school diploma or be within 30 credits of obtaining it.

  • Americorps is a national service program. By working at CCLB, Corpsmembers are eligible to accrue hours towards Americorps service. When you complete 675 hours, you become eligible for an education award.

    Education awards are currently $2,667 (as of summer 2023) and are awarded to 17 Corpsmembers each year.

  • Americorps awards can be used for educational expenses at qualifying educational institutions.

  • To apply, please connect with the Corpsmember Development Department. Awards are limited to 17 per year. As such, eligibility is reviewed on a case by case basis.
