Recycling Program
Young adults who are enrolled in the Job Readiness Program participate in the Recycling Program as a portion of their Job Readiness Skills and work experience. Each day, 364 days a year, the young adults in these programs pick up recyclables from clients, sort the recyclables from the garbage and into the different types of recyclables, compact the cardboard; and deliver the sorted recyclable material to various companies who will do the actual recycling.

The Department of Conservation/Division of Recycling provides a major grant to the CCLB to provide this recycling service in our community. The grant money is generated by the State from the Bottle Bill Funds – which is the CRV that one pays when purchasing a plastic or glass container.

This program is three-fold beneficial – It provides the employment and experience opportunities for the youth in the program; The clients of CCLB save money on their waste bills and have a feeling of being community conscious; and these efforts keep these materials out of the landfills – over 1,172,537 pounds of recyclables were kept out of landfills in 2008-2009.
