| After School Enrichment Program |
| Through a partnership with Long Beach Unified School District, CCLB’s Winners Reaching Amazing Potential (WRAP) After-School Enrichment Program has provided safe and healthy environments for growth and leadership development to students (grades 1-8), since 2003.
Our current partnering Long Beach Unified school sites are: Lindbergh Middle School, Hoover Middle School, and Dooley Global Studies Magnet Elementary School. Our program is designed to emphasize youth development, career awareness, academic achievement and conservation. Over 6,000 student participants have received three hours of structured homework help/tutoring, enrichment and psycho-physical education and activities that are aligned with the California State Content Standards. Additionally, our program model supports disguised learning opportunities in life skills, character development, mathematics, technology, language arts, job readiness and service learning. Earn & Learn is CCLB’s signature service learning curriculum. Earn & Learn educates students about the environment, conservation of energy and ways of decreasing waste. The 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle are highlighted throughout the program. A student-driven community service project is conducted as well. Earn & Learn field trips include: Port of Long Beach, Watts Towers, the Electric Lodge (solar-powered performance theatre), 30-Minute Beach Clean-Ups and CSULB’s Recycling Center. Future leaders are mentored on a daily basis by all staff. |
